OUR PHILOSOPHY

Faavae Mautu Aoga Amata is an early childhood care and education centre which aims for its children to build strong foundations, as expressed in its name. We offer a warm, loving, caring and safe environment from a Samoan Christian and cultural perspective. With most staff fluent in Samoan language the centre identifies as strongly bilingual.

We believe in acknowledging Māori as tangata whenua and that our children should have a knowledge of the indigenous culture of New Zealand.

We aim to provide quality care and education in a warm, loving, caring and safe environment offered from a Samoan Christian and cultural perspective in the Samoan language. We believe this will help children to grow up as confident and competent learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit.

We believe in planning for the learning and developmental experiences that will enhance their learning.

We believe that each child should have the freedom of choice and discovery.
We endeavour to include these into the programme which is based on Te Whāriki.

We believe in the importance of acknowledging Maori as Tangata Whenua, and that children should have a knowledge of the indigenous culture of New Zealand.

We believe having this upbringing will help the child feel secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.

OUR CURRICULUM

We believe in planning for the learning and developmental experiences that will enhance each child’s learning. We believe that each child should have the freedom of choice and discovery.

We endeavour to include these into the programme which is based on Te Whāriki, the New Zealand early childhood curriculum. We believe that children learn holistically through their culture, art, language and traditions alongside each other.

We plan learning opportunities that will help children to grow up as confident and competent learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit.

We believe that having all of these strong foundations will help each child feel secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.
